Republic Day Parade in VR 360°

Culenz streamed the Republic Day Parade live in VR 360°, with the Government of India and a state government. Viewers could look in any direction on a phone, browser or VR headset.

01 — Overview

Republic Day in 360°

Millions watch the Republic Day Parade, but only a small number see it from the route. Television shows fixed camera angles chosen by a director.

A 360° stream lets each viewer look in any direction, as if standing on the route. It turns the broadcast into a virtual seat at the parade.

02 — What's included

The project at a glance

  • The brief

Bring the parade to people who can't be on the route, with more than one fixed TV angle.

  • Our solution

A live 360° capture and stream of the parade, viewable on phones, browsers and headsets.

  • The result

One of the national events in Culenz's 100+ hours of live 360° VR, alongside Independence Day.

03 — Key features

Republic Day 360° in depth

  1. 01

    Working with government partners

Culenz streamed the parade with the Government of India and a state government. National events bring strict security, timing and approval rules.

Every camera position, cable run and crew pass must be planned and approved in advance.

  2. 02

    The viewer experience

Viewers watched on phones, browsers and VR headsets. Phone viewers moved their phone to look around, and headset viewers turned their heads.

Marching contingents, tableaux and flypasts could be followed from the camera's position on the route.

  3. 03

    The technical challenge

Live 360° needs multi-lens cameras, real-time stitching and high upload bandwidth. A national broadcast also needs backups for every critical link.

Rehearsals test cameras, stitching and the stream before the day itself.

  4. 04

    Independence Day and beyond

The same live 360° approach was used for Independence Day. Both are part of more than 100 hours of live 360° VR streamed by Culenz.

That experience now underpins our LiveCast 360 package for other events.

  5. 05

    360° for national events

National days are about being part of a shared moment. 360° gives remote citizens a stronger sense of presence than a flat broadcast.

Recordings also become archive material and VR content for museums and exhibitions.

  6. 06

Camera positions on a parade route

A parade moves past fixed points, so each camera sees each contingent only briefly. Positions are chosen to give viewers the strongest moments.

Cameras close to the route give a sense of scale, while higher positions show the full formation. Every position must be approved by event authorities.

  7. 07

Planning for a fixed national date

National days can't move, so every rehearsal and backup must be ready in advance. There is no second chance on the day.

Equipment, crew and connectivity are tested in the days before, under the same security rules as the event.

  8. 08

    Measuring results

Depending on the format, we can record sessions, viewers, dwell time, leads or training scores. The measures are agreed with the client before launch.

We publish numbers on this site only when the client has approved them and their source is clear.

Where figures are still being confirmed, the case study describes the work without them.

  9. 09

    Comfort, safety and access

Every experience is designed for first-time users. We avoid camera movement the user didn't cause and keep sessions short at busy events.

Headsets are cleaned between users, and the headset maker's age guidance is followed. Screen, dome and hologram versions serve people who prefer not to wear a headset.

Our crew briefs each visitor and stays close during the session, so everyone feels safe and confident.

  10. 10

    Equipment and crew

Culenz supplies the cameras, headsets, projectors, hologram boxes and computers each project needs. Everything is tested together before it leaves the studio.

A trained crew sets up, runs and packs down the experience. Spare equipment travels with them, so a single fault never stops the show.

  11. 11

    More Culenz work

Our published work includes the Republic Day Parade and Independence Day live in VR 360°. The IT Day XR Dome welcomed more than 1,00,000 visitors.

It also includes a VR ride for BMW Motorrad and an experience for Audi India. Festivals include a leading literature festival and Jashn-e-Rekhta, alongside a virtual Lotus Temple.

04 — Our process

Delivering a project like this

Every project follows five stages: scope, capture and storyboard, real-time build, integration and rehearsal, then run and support. Each stage ends with the client's sign-off.

The client reviews the work in the headset, on screen or at the venue at every stage. Changes happen early, when they cost the least.

On the day, a Culenz crew runs the experience or the broadcast. Afterwards, the client receives recordings, reports or a handover as agreed.

  1. 01

    Scope

We agree goals, audience, venue, devices and dated milestones, and you sign off the scope.

  2. 02

    Capture and storyboard

We gather plans, photos or scans and build a draft for you to review in the headset or on screen.

  3. 03

    Build

Final models, content and interactions are added and tested on the target device.

  4. 04

    Integrate and rehearse

Hardware is wired in, and the experience is rehearsed at the venue or a mock-up.

  5. 05

    Run and support

Our crew runs it or hands it over, followed by a review and a maintenance plan.

05 — Planning your project

Choosing the right partner

Checklist

Planning a similar project

  • Start with the goal and the audience. A brand activation, a national broadcast and a heritage tour each need a different format and crew.
  • Book a free scoping call, and we will recommend a format, a schedule and an itemised quote. If a simpler option works better, we will say so.
  • Fixed dates, such as an event or launch, should be shared early. Content production usually takes longer than setup.

Checklist

Commissioning checklist

  • Who is the audience, and will they watch in a headset, on a phone or in a crowd? What should they remember or do afterwards?
  • What are the fixed dates, and who signs off each stage? Clear answers keep the project on time and focused on its goal.

07 — FAQs

Questions buyers often ask

How did viewers watch the Republic Day 360° stream?

Viewers could watch on a phone, in a web browser or in a VR headset. Each viewer chose where to look by moving the phone, dragging the screen or turning their head.

Can Culenz stream other government events in 360°?

Yes. The same approach suits ceremonies, parades, state events, festivals and public launches across India. We plan camera positions, security clearances, power and connectivity with event authorities well before the day itself.

What is needed to stream a parade in 360°?

A parade needs approved camera positions along the route, 360° cameras, live stitching, encoding, reliable upload bandwidth and backups. A trained crew monitors every camera, encoder and network link throughout the broadcast.

Is the Republic Day 360° recording available?

Recordings of government broadcasts belong to the event organisers, who decide how they are published. For your own event, you receive the full 360° recording to publish, archive or reuse in VR.
