3D laser scanning and photogrammetry

Culenz captures buildings, monuments and objects with 3D laser scanning and photogrammetry. The result is an accurate 3D model for digital museums, renovation, digital twins or VR tours.

01 — Overview

Capturing the real world in 3D

Laser scanning (LiDAR) measures millions of points with a laser, giving precise geometry even in low light. Photogrammetry builds a 3D model from many overlapping photos, giving rich colour and texture. Large projects often combine both.

3D laser scanning and photogrammetry record buildings, monuments, sites and objects as accurate 3D data. The result can become a model, a digital twin or a virtual tour.

Culenz captures sites and objects across India and Dubai, then turns the data into the deliverable each project needs.

02 — What's included

What you get

  • Heritage documentation

Record monuments and artefacts in detail, for conservation and public display.

  • Scan to BIM

Turn scans of existing buildings into models for renovation design.

  • Assets for VR

Scans are cleaned and optimised, so they hold frame rate on headsets.

  • Standard deliverables

Point clouds, meshes and textured models in standard file formats.

03 — Key features

3D scanning and photogrammetry in depth

  1. 01

    Laser scanning for precise geometry

Terrestrial laser scanners capture accurate geometry, even in low light or complex spaces. They suit buildings, plants and infrastructure.

Several scans are combined into one point cloud of the whole site. That point cloud becomes the base for models and drawings.

  2. 02

    Photogrammetry for colour and texture

Photogrammetry captures rich colour and surface detail from photographs. It suits artefacts, sculptures, facades and natural sites.

Drones can capture large sites and rooftops from the air. Large projects often combine both methods for accuracy and texture.

  3. 03

    Heritage documentation

Monuments and artefacts are recorded in detail for conservation and public display. The 3D record helps plan repairs and protect the site.

The same data can power a virtual heritage tour or a digital museum. Visitors explore places that are fragile or closed to the public.

  4. 04

    Scan to BIM

Scans of existing buildings become BIM models for renovation and retrofit design. Designers work from accurate as-built geometry.

That avoids errors from outdated drawings. Clashes between new and existing elements show up early.

  5. 05

    Scans for VR and AR

Raw scans are too heavy for headsets and phones. We clean and optimise them so they hold frame rate in VR and load quickly in AR.

Detail is kept where people look closely and reduced elsewhere. The result looks real and runs smoothly.

  6. 06

    Deliverables

We deliver point clouds, meshes and textured models in standard file formats. Drawings and BIM models can be added.

We agree the formats and accuracy at the start, so the data fits your software and use.

  7. 07

    Scanning industrial plants

Plants change over decades, and drawings rarely keep up. A laser scan records the plant as it really is today.

Engineers use the scan to plan modifications, check clearances and build digital twins. It also supports safety training in a model of the real site.

  8. 08

    Scanning objects and products

Products, sculptures and artefacts can be scanned on a turntable or in place. The result becomes a 3D model for AR, e-commerce or museum display.

Accurate product scans let customers see the real item in AR. That builds confidence before they buy.

04 — Our process

Our 3D scanning delivery process

Every project starts with a free scoping call to agree goals, audience, venue, devices and dates. You then receive a written scope with dated milestones.

We gather your files, build a first draft and review it with you, in the headset or on site. Final content, testing and installation follow.

After launch, our crew runs the experience or hands it over with training. An annual maintenance contract can cover support, repairs and updates.

  1. 01

    Scope

We agree goals, audience, venue, devices and dated milestones, and you sign off the scope.

  2. 02

    Capture and storyboard

We gather plans, photos or scans and build a draft for you to review in the headset or on screen.

  3. 03

    Build

Final models, content and interactions are added and tested on the target device.

  4. 04

    Integrate and rehearse

Hardware is wired in, and the experience is rehearsed at the venue or a mock-up.

  5. 05

    Run and support

Our crew runs it or hands it over, followed by a review and a maintenance plan.

05 — Planning your project

Budget and the right partner

Pricing

3D scanning pricing factors

Cost depends mainly on how much content is custom, the hardware involved and how long the experience runs. On-site crew and travel add to event projects.

Reusing your existing CAD, BIM, footage or brand assets lowers cost. Building from photos or 2D drawings takes more modelling time.

We send an itemised quote after the scoping call. Content, hardware, crew and support are listed separately, so you see what each part costs.

Checklist

Choosing your 3D scanning partner

  • Ask to see work the team has delivered, and who will actually build yours. Check that the same people stay on your project from scope to launch.
  • Ask how they test on the real device or venue, and what happens if something fails on the day. A clear answer shows real delivery experience.
  • Finally, ask for an itemised quote and a dated schedule. Vague estimates usually lead to surprises later in the project.

07 — FAQs

Questions buyers often ask

How accurate is 3D laser scanning?

Accuracy depends on the scanner and the distance to the surface. Terrestrial laser scanners typically measure within a few millimetres at short range. Photogrammetry accuracy depends on photo resolution, overlap and control points, so we agree the accuracy you need first.

How long does a 3D scan take on site?

It depends on the size and complexity of the site. A single room or object takes far less time than a large monument or plant. We plan the number of scan positions and photos after a site survey.

Can you scan sites that are in use?

Yes. We plan scanning around operating hours and safety rules, often working early, late or in sections. People moving through a scan are removed from the data during processing, so the final model stays clean.

Can drones be used for scanning?

Yes. Drones capture rooftops, facades and large sites for photogrammetry, from angles ground crews can't reach. Drone flights follow local rules, and we arrange permissions with the site owner and authorities well before capture.
