15 VR Safety Training Modules for EHS & HSE Teams

Culenz's 15 VR safety modules let workers rehearse dangerous jobs, such as confined-space entry or lockout/tagout, without real hazards. Each module is scripted with your EHS team and scored for every trainee.

Four groups of modules

  • Fire and hot work

Fire extinguishers, hose handlines and hot-work safety.

  • Height and lifting

Work at height, scaffolds, and rigging and crane safety.

  • Energy and chemicals

LOTO, electrical and arc flash, confined spaces, chemical spills, gas leaks and H2S.

  • Procedures

Hazard identification, permit to work, PPE and emergency evacuation.

Why virtual reality safety training works

Most workers never rehearse the jobs most likely to hurt them. Live drills for fires, gas leaks or confined spaces are costly, disruptive and sometimes dangerous.

Virtual reality training lets each worker do the task with their own hands. They make decisions, see the result of a mistake and try again, with no real hazard.

Doing a task builds memory that a slide deck or video can't. Workers remember the order of steps because they have already performed them once.

Choosing the first modules for your site

Start with the tasks behind your most serious incidents and near misses. For many plants, that means lockout/tagout, confined-space entry, work at height or hot work.

Next, look at tasks that are hard to drill for real, such as gas releases or evacuations. These gain the most from a virtual rehearsal.

One or two well-chosen modules prove value faster than a full library. Their results then guide which modules your site adds next.

Building a module around your own plant

Every Culenz module can be set in a model of your own site. We work from photos, drawings or a 3D scan of the real area.

Your EHS team reviews the script, the hazards and the correct steps before anything is built. They then test the module in the headset before trainees use it.

Site-specific details make the training stick. Workers see their own valves, signs and equipment, so the lesson transfers straight to the job.

Running VR safety training at scale

Large sites train hundreds of people a month, often across shifts and contractors. Standalone headsets travel easily between sites and need no IT installation.

Our SafeSim Uno platform assigns modules, updates every headset and collects the records in one place. Supervisors see who has trained and who is due a refresher.

Short sessions fit into toolbox talks, induction days and shift changes. That avoids taking whole crews off the job for a full day.

Measuring training results

Each module scores decisions, errors and time, so you see where each trainee struggles. A group report shows the steps most people get wrong.

Compare those results with incident reports, audit findings and observation scores over the following months. That links the training to behaviour on site.

Repeat attempts show improvement clearly. A trainee who missed the gas test order on the first try should get it right before they pass.

Standards and your EHS management system

Modules are scripted against the procedures your site already follows. Where relevant, we refer to recognised standards such as ISO 45001, OSHA rules or NFPA codes.

VR records support your training files, but they don't replace required certifications or practical assessments. Your EHS team decides how VR fits your training matrix.

Library modules or a custom build

Our library covers 15 common high-risk tasks, from fire extinguishers to H2S. Library modules can be branded and adjusted to your procedures quickly.

A custom build models your own site, machines and permits in detail. It takes longer but gives the strongest link between training and the real job.

Many organisations start with library modules and add custom ones for their highest risks. Both run on the same platform with one set of records.

Who uses VR safety training

Manufacturing plants, refineries, power stations, construction firms, warehouses and hospitals all use VR safety training. So do training institutes and skill councils.

Users range from new starters and contractors to experienced supervisors. Each group gets the modules and difficulty that match their role.

Getting started

Book a free demo and try two or three modules in the headset yourself. Bring your EHS lead, so they can judge the content against your procedures.

We then agree a pilot scope, a schedule and a way to measure results. Most pilots start with one department and a handful of headsets.

VR safety training across India and the UAE

Culenz is a virtual reality company with its headquarters in Jaipur and offices in Secunderabad and Dubai. We deliver VR safety training to plants and sites in both countries.

Our team scripts, builds, installs and supports each module, so you have one contact throughout. We also offer annual maintenance for the headsets and content.

04 — FAQs

Common questions

How is VR safety training different from a video or classroom session?

In VR, workers do the task instead of watching it. They choose the extinguisher, isolate the valve or test the air, and see the result of a wrong choice. Every decision is recorded, so supervisors know who is ready and what to retrain.

How long does a custom VR safety module take to build?

Timelines depend on how much of your site we model and how many scenarios the module covers. A module based on our existing library takes less time than one built from scratch. Culenz gives a dated schedule once the scope is agreed.

Can contractors take VR safety training before arriving on site?

Yes. Headsets can be sent to a contractor's office or set up at the site gate for induction. Records show which contractors completed each module and their scores, before anyone starts work on your site.

Do workers need gaming experience to use VR training?

No. Modules use simple hand actions, such as pointing, grabbing and pressing, and a short tutorial comes first. Trainers guide first-time users, and most people are comfortable within a few minutes of putting on the headset.
